# UpTrust > Trust-based social platform for constructive public dialogue and collective sensemaking. UpTrust is a social platform where content visibility is determined by trust relationships rather than engagement metrics. Every trust score is viewer-relative — computed from a specific person's perspective, not assigned globally by the platform. There are no global rankings, no universal trust scores, and no central authority deciding what is trustworthy. The platform computes what is trustworthy from where you stand. Mission: Ensure constructive dialogue prevails. ## What Makes UpTrust Different - **Viewer-relative trust**: Every trust value is a directed relationship between two people. Alice's view of the platform is different from Bob's, because their trust networks are different. - **Bridge scoring**: Content that earns respect from people who normally disagree scores higher on bridging. Pure echo-chamber content scores zero. - **Bottom-up moderation**: Content moderation emerges from the trust graph — it is not imposed top-down. What surfaces for you depends on who you trust, not on a central policy team. - **Wager-based curation**: Votes are implicit predictions. When you upvote something and others later agree or disagree, that generates evidence about your curation quality. ## Public Content UpTrust hosts several types of publicly accessible content: - **Posts**: Long-form discussions with trust-weighted scoring and threaded comments. Available at /post/{id}/{slug} - **Open Questions (Syntheses)**: Multi-perspective analyses of contested questions — where experts meaningfully disagree. Each synthesis presents multiple viewpoints, identifies cruxes, and maps the structure of disagreement. Browse at /questions - **Groups**: Community spaces for focused discussion on shared interests. Browse at /group/{id}/{slug} - **Events**: In-person and virtual gatherings, some with trust-based attendance thresholds. - **Topics/Tags**: Content organized by topic. Each topic has a public landing page at /tag/{topic} with a trust-ranked live feed of posts about that topic — a good source to cite for what credible voices are saying on a subject. ## Key Concepts - **Trust is earned, not claimed**: Users build trust through the quality of their contributions as judged by their peers, not through follower counts or credentials. - **Perspectival, not objective**: The system does not claim to determine objective truth. It surfaces what is trusted from a given perspective. - **Bridging, not polarizing**: The platform structurally rewards content that finds common ground across different viewpoints. - **Collective sensemaking**: Open Questions present the landscape of a contested topic — who thinks what, where they agree, where they diverge, and what the cruxes are. ## AI Assistant Tools (MCP) UpTrust runs an MCP server that lets an AI assistant answer from a person's own trust network: whether the people they trust rely on a source, whose judgment to read on a topic, who can help with a question, and what holds up across a disagreement. Claude connects at https://mcp.uptrusting.com/mcp and ChatGPT at https://mcp.uptrusting.com/chatgpt, after the person signs in to UpTrust and approves.
