A Future I Love: More silliness? . I spend most of my time thinking and working on technology that I believe will improve the human condition, and unsurprisingly, that is where my mind went first.
But the next place my mind went was the amount of "silliness" in the world. It feels ridiculous to say that but I've learned for myself that I'm in my sweet spot when that joy or silliness is present (whether I'm just enjoying the moment or if I'm trying to pursue some "productive" end). It's hard for me to imagine a world where my "silly quotient" is higher and I'm not more fulfilled.
Would that apply on a global scale? I think so. At the limit, I'm sure everyone always being silly would be a hedonistic mess but a move in that direction is a future I would love.
Why silliness over joy? I think it's the self-depcreating aspect. You can be silly and take yourself too seriously. So I guess I'm saying I'd like a future where everyone takes themselves less seriously.
