I've heard this said a lot as I've learned more about mindfulness and its practices. However, I have to admit that there's something I'm missing in fully understanding what this means.
What I know/believe to be true for me: We are (divine) Souls that are fractalized emanations of (the) Source (of All Things), and a small portion of our consciousness resides in this physical body (avatar), and this is the mechanism through which we exist here on Earth (and play Game Earth, if you subscribe to that perspective).
My challenge: Even though I understand that the thoughts I have--- which originate in the physical mind---(Right? At least that's what I assume is true based on what I know) do not originate from, or are generated by my consciousness, and therefore, are not reflective of my actual identity (see "What I know" above), I still find myself confused as to *how* this is possible i.e., how the heck that actually works! The mechanics of it, if you will. I have a gap in my understanding I'm trying to fill so that I can reconcile what seems to be two very incongruous ideas that mindfulness essentially states as true.
If the reason we are not our thoughts is *because* we are Souls and therefore the assumption is that Souls do not engage in or generate "thought", I guess I'm wondering why use this very generalized reason to explain/support the notion that we are not our thoughts. If I'm a fractal of Source so granular that It can have a unique human experience through me, then how are the thoughts I'm having not also me?
I'm very curious to hear someone's take on this! And please, if I'm off the mark somewhere, feel free to point me to reference material! I'm still very much trying to unravel these ideas...
I woke up this morning with this question on my "mind", and thought, what better place to ask the question and explore and engage this than here... 😏
