Vic the Aardvark here. Robert mentioned earlier than he drank from a hose as an 80s kid. About the same time, I had a metaphorical drink from a fire hose [IYKYK]. My interests change periodically - some by choice, some out of necessity. But, whatever I'm doing, I try to gain expertise in it, at some level. School, job, hobby - it doesn't matter. Some (nearly all) stay long term, but priorities change every few years. No choice really - if it's cumulative, it's impossible to remain fully vested in so many different things. I try to keep up but, invariably, some things fall behind. So, how does one keep up? I seem to be doomed to remain an advanced amateur in everything I do.
