Look for the path, not the obstacles.

Most have probably heard this little piece of knowledge, my favorite iteration came from a downhill skier.  To paraphrase their answer when asked about avoiding trees and staying on the snow : You can't look at the trees, you have to look at the snow between them. If you're focused on the trees, you're going to hit the trees. If you're focused on the snow, you're gonna hit the snow.
