So... these masks hit deeply personally on so many levels... feel free to drop your own takes on what they mean to you in the comments.
The one that I will share here is on the artistic level. For what they mean to me is deeply related to my own experiences with trauma, physically, mentally, and spiritually. But another friend of mine saw them in ways special to him -- every feature I saw as good he saw as representing bad... and some aspects I saw as bad, he saw as great, and some worse.
It was the first time I had been truly confronted with the reality that when you make a work of art your intent only matters so much. In that moment he took a pair of objects that I had poured my heart and soul into and he brought them to life. What was once exclusively my story was now a group story.
I ask you add to it respectfully to your own story to whatever extent you are willing to share.
