Are we all organic humans on this platform or are the bots among us?
I think if UpTrust is bot-free, that would be the biggest selling point for most people to make the transition over. If it allows bots on here, I don't think I'll stay because bot profiles and inauthentic engagement using bots is not an experience I want to participate in. I think there should also be some ways users can export their contacts so that an app doesn't have the ability to hold you captive and that you have sovereignty over the community you build on the app to be able to bring that offline, or move as you desire. This would create a lot more Trust to know you're not trapped forever.
I'm writing this post without doing any deep research into this platform, so I'm just speaking off the cuff. I deleted my Meta accounts a couple of weeks ago, they did NOT make it easy. Everyone I talk to says they want to get off that POS app, but they have spent so many years building a business or a community on there that they feel trapped. The user experience of Meta has been peak enshitifcation for about 10 years.
Besides UpTrust, I have an account on Mastodon, primarily just looking to understand decentralized networks, and from what I understand, it's built on blockchain. Trump's "Truth" social is also built on Mastadon's tech as far as I have read. I am a newb to blockchain tech but from my understanding, it adds a layer of trust and transparency with a permanent record of changes. In a world where history could be rewritten with a deletion of a gov website, blockchain seems like a good way to ensure permanent documentation. Since these are more co-op models and the information isn't centrally owned, users having their data used against them seems less likely. (love anyone here to explain this further to me, I've asked around in my community, and nobody has any idea what I'm talking about. I'm old guys)
At this point, it's going to take A LOT for me to trust a platform or algorithm. I'm ready to step away from all of it and stay laser-focused on seeking out the content I want to consume with intention.
