๐ง๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ป๐๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ฎ๐น ๐ฃ๐น๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐น๐ถ๐๐บ, my developmental model, has always been strongly tied to genealogical analysis: tracing how structures of thought emerge, reorganize, and become capable of questioning their own foundations which I had largely to derive from following authors through their writings (given that it was the only data source easily available).
I think this opens up an interesting direction for developmental psychology. Rather than treating genealogy or postmodern archaeology primarily as interpretive methods, we can ask whether their historical patterns can be underpinned by empirically testable developmental structures.
My recent work on Plato is one small example: looking at whether changes in philosophical thought are also visible in changes in the syntactic organization of his most complex sentences.
