Choosing Purpose Over Conformity
Never would I have guessed that I would be part of a timeline where society deliberately places itself into an echo chamber! We knew where things were headed, the signs were there, and we just let it happen as if at every fundamental level there wasn't a way to stop it. It's as if all of this were designed to happen this way.
And when I look back at history, that's exactly what WE did.
In the establishment of wealth, deciding what is fair, having social classes, gender superiority - all of these things that create culture and extract the concepts of greed, power, and control, contribute to how society functions. But the most extraordinary things have always come from exploration, observation, discovery, and analysis. We never made the connection to what humanity is good at as if we were designed to be this way.
But we've continuously convinced ourselves that we need war and conflict.
Humanity fell into conformity and it gave others the taste of control. Those who wield the power of command wanted more of it and so they manipulate their constituents that they have an enemy who is a threat to their way of life. Now, after thousands of years of scattered wars, we found ourselves divided as a world separated into nations, which is divided all the way down to the most fundamental level - communities. And we see ourselves as the enemy.
"Society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in."
The Routledge Handbook of Hellenistic Philosophy identifies influential principles of the Greeks and Romans that apply to society today. Even in those ancient times there were people, once considered great scholars, who deeply thought about the progress of life on Earth. Somewhere in this reality there is a planet that has prospered because they figured out life has no expectations; you just exist. Surviving it is about relying on each other as a species, no one must do it alone. To live it, requires a humble understanding of cosmic perspective.
Humanity has a purpose to understand the universe, but we can't do it divided.
The progression of evolution has essentially been changes between generations who developed adaptations to make the continuation of life an easier transition for the future of existence. In other words, each generation of life depends on the one before it to prepare and develop a more efficient way for progress. For the progression of society to grow great, we need generations who are willing to let go of their ego and allow its successor to do better for the next.
Life isn’t a choice and living it has nothing to do with politics, religion, or culture. We get to decide!
