Chinese Companies Marketing Birth Packages Openly
Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced on August 12 2026 the creation of a Birth Tourism Prevention Task Force inside the State Department. The group reviews visa holder activity worldwide. It aims to identify and stop networks that arrange for foreign nationals to give birth in the United States solely to secure citizenship for the child. In its first month the task force revoked more than 600 visas from people linked to these schemes.
More than 1,000 companies in China market birth tourism services aimed at the United States according to Schweizer. Advertisements highlight American education social security eligibility and future family immigration options. Packages for post natal care in California have been listed between 34 000 and 44 000 dollars. Similar services operate for clients from other countries.
Past cases in California involved unpaid hospital bills and hidden housing for pregnant clients.
