A federal judge in Boston has cleared the path for the Trump administration to end Temporary Protected Status for nationals of Somalia.
On Friday August 14 2026 U.S. District Judge Allison Burroughs lifted her earlier order that had blocked the Department of Homeland Security from terminating the designation.
This action follows the January 2026 decision by then Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem that Somalia no longer meets the legal requirements for the program. The termination is now in effect.
