The letter is unquestionably political propaganda. It portrays Iran as the victim, presents its own government in a favorable light, attacks President Donald Trump, condemns American support for Israel, and directly encourages Americans to use the November midterm elections to change their government.
The question is no longer simply what happens to Iran.
It is whether the United States can use its enormous power without convincing the rest of the world that it must increasingly prepare for a future in which American power is something to hedge against rather than something to rely upon.
