Overall ship numbers through the strait remain far below pre war levels. Before the fighting roughly 100 to 120 ships crossed each day carrying about 20 million barrels of oil. Recent counts are much lower. Some vessels still take the northern Iranian route or go dark. Experts describe a standoff rather than total American ownership. Iran keeps launching low level drone and missile strikes that act as harassment rather than decisive blows.
