1996 Standards Remain in Place While Agencies Accept Comments on Children and Long Term Use

The United States National Toxicology Program reported clear evidence of heart tumors and some evidence of brain tumors in male rats exposed to high whole body levels of radiofrequency radiation; the agency noted that the exposures exceeded typical human use and that whole body animal dosing is not identical to localized phone exposure.

Large human studies and systematic reviews commissioned by the World Health Organization have generally found no consistent association between cell phone use and brain cancer or other common cancers at typical exposure levels. Brain tumor incidence rates have remained stable in many countries despite the rise in mobile phone use.
