Because "projection makes perception" and its all a dream, being ethical is an act of self-love
When thinking about everything being a dream, it's hard to see where ethics fits. If you know it's a Star Wars video game, why not play-to-win as the dark side? <-- You are separate from the video game, so this question makes sense. But YOU are not separate from the dream, you ARE the dream.
So every act of kindness is kindness to yourself. Every act of love, forgivness, compassion, is self-love, self-forgiveness, self-compassion. Yes this means every act of destruction, torture, war, is also self-destruction, self-torture, self-war.
Putting this into practice, wow, that's a different story.
But i think it's important because I see a lot of "enlightenment" teachers do lots of unethical stuff and use nonduality to justify it. I don't know that we'll ever avoid this, especially as our sense of ethics evolves to include more and more (hopefully?). but at least we can look at our own tendencies to justify our ego-protection using fancy spiritual logic of no-ego.
