Community living

New to psychology

I'm in the process of building a neighborhood community in Asheville. It will be the first time I've lived with so many people - likely 20-30 - and had some choice over the members. Something I'm contemplating is: what sort of personality traits and communication skills should I sort for? I'd love to hear y'all's thoughts. What traits make someone good to live with in community?

Here are some my group has come up with thus far:

  • Respectful / considerate
    - of others’ space
  • Thoughtful and flexible
    - Take in other views, consider others’ ideas, negotiate
  • Self-aware
    - Admit when you’re wrong
  • Chill
    / Resilient
    - Take things in stride, sense of humor, patient
  • Brave
    - Lean into honesty and difficult conversations
  • Contributory
    - Show up with time, money, and attention
