Here’s a powerful boundary if you want to reclaim your attention, love, and soul:

No pulls before noon.

Pulls are: algorithmic curated content and notifications. Any place where something outside of your own mind and actual immediate environment is determining what you pay attention to.

So opening up a social media app just to consume whatever the algorithm wants you to consume. Checking emails. Message app notifications. All of these are pulls. All of these are letting the machine, the diffuse digital demimonde, decide where your attention, love, and soul go.

If you have someone who needs to be able to reach you, you might make an exception. But set it up as an exception. Modern devices have great tools for eg blocking all notifications except calls and texts from specific numbers.

What happens when you do this?

You get to spend the start of your day living like it’s the 90’s, feeling like yourself, watching your soul heal and repair itself, and rediscover what you love.

Bonus exercise:

Once a week, do this for a whole day.
