Hey y'all,
For the past few weeks we've gone for highly contested questions, pushing the limits of the uptrust thesis that we can have good conversations about the hard stuff. So let's keep going: Guns. What are they for? And who should have them?
Thematic variations:
- What problem is a gun solving for you: self-defense, hunting, sport, a check on government, identity? What problem is gun control trying to solve: mass shootings, suicide, street violence, accidents? Are both sides talking about the same deaths?
- What are the facts, and which ones are disputed? More than half of US gun deaths are suicides. How does that change the conversation, if at all?
- Other countries, eg: Australia running a national gun buyback again this year. Thoughts?
- If you're enraged and offended, what's the personal bit underneath that? What ways haven't worked in this conversation in the past, and what can we do instead?
Lots of love, and see (some of) you on the site, here, now.
