This week at UpTrust (Oct 7)

This week brought a massive trust engine upgrade, which allows us to process billions of trust edges. But mostly you'll see a bunch of small improvements and polish: recurring events, a cleaner inbox, and a faster Topics page. Writing on a phone also got a lot less cramped.

Events and groups

  • A weekly series used to fill the Events list with one card per date. It now shows once, as "Weekly on Tuesdays", and you can answer for every upcoming date with one tap.
  • Pin the groups you care about and they sit at the top of Groups. Each group shows one unread number, and the Groups badge adds them up.
  • Collapsing the left menu used to hide your unread counts. They stay visible now.
  • When you mark an event as online, the form no longer asks for a street address.

Your inbox

  • Every row in the Inbox reads as a full sentence, posts without a title show what they say, and there is a Mark all read button.
  • When someone reacts to a photo you posted, the email shows the photo instead of "Untitled post".

Writing

  • On a phone, the message box is a rounded pill with the send arrow inside, and comment boxes on event walls rest the same way. Reply and Edit on a comment open full screen, so you are no longer typing into a narrow strip.
  • A #hashtag in a post or comment now always leads to that topic's page, where it used to sometimes drop you into search.
  • The full editor at /posts/new lists your five newest drafts underneath, so a half-written post is easy to pick back up.

Finding your way

  • The Topics page used to take several seconds to open. It now loads in about a second.
  • Pages start loading when you rest your pointer on a link, so clicks feel quicker. A post that fails to load offers a retry instead of a blank screen.
  • Readers who browse quickly were sometimes told to slow down. Normal browsing no longer triggers that.
  • Each "Your quest" row on Home opens its track on the Quest page.
  • Lens choices in For You save the moment you tick them.
  • /profile takes you to your own profile, and Profile has its own spot in the menu.

Trust and bridges

  • AI perspective voters no longer count toward bridges. A bridge now means real people on different sides agreed.
  • Your trust footprint is now in the help center. It explains what others can see about who you trust.

Smaller fixes

  • Two people can no longer hold usernames that differ only by capital letters.
  • Photos in group channels used to go missing. They show up now, and an assistant you have connected to UpTrust can post photos there too.
  • The page-not-found screen matches dark mode and points you somewhere useful.
  • The About page has our short films.

The app

iOS 1.1.1 is in the App Store, with search on Discover that also finds comments. The next version adds Android push notifications, which Android phones never received before, and fixes the keyboard covering the message box on Android.
