Before Sleep, Resolve Your Inner and Outer Conflicts
New to parenting
Before going to sleep, repair your conflicts
with others + with yourself.
Before putting your child to sleep,
hold their hand + tell them how you witnessed
their light, courage +kindness.
Before my son fell asleep, I told him
• I love how well you played with your friends
• You are so brave for saying how you feel
• I am inspired by your focus during homeschooling
• Thank you for doing your dishes even though you were complaining
• I love you for who you are always
Our night was not perfect. I was tired + he was sleepy.
His preteen-ness is not easy.
But I wanted his heart to be at peace.
As I learn to prioritize my own self-love, I am practicing this with myself as well.
This evening, I told myself:
• I am proud of you for not taking things personally
• I love how you wrote this morning
• Your community idea is exciting. Keep going.
• Thank you for being gentle with yourself when you decided not to go to the gym
• I see how you are learning to let go instead of letting resentment take over
I am still struggling to not be hard on myself.
Maybe you are too.
Sleep well with loving thoughts about yourself.
In the morning, the world will welcome you for it.
