Please help me stay intellectually honest!
I'm not a fan of generative AI in general, and LLM technology specifically. I think its capabilities are being drastically over-hyped. It's a perfect, sweaty example of a solution looking for a problem. I'm skeptical of many claims people are making wrt how it's helping them.... - sass...
Just to elaborate on this, (after a helpful interaction w chatgpt re language learning this morning): I know so little about Japanese, compared to chatgpt that asking it for help about things it would otherwise be hard to get help for is net positive in my language learning.... To me, your first point is not a disagreement. You're free to disapprove or condemn my use of that term, but you don't have a disagreement. You might argue that you disagree with the implication "it's ok to use the term idiot savant in this context," but thinking of that as a... By any chance is anyone here learning Japanese, or considering it?
