Very few deep, rewarding and good faith discussions occur on social media. I have a lot of these now with AI though. I don't think of prompting or querying AI, since we tend to go down rabbit holes that are really more like conversations....

I didn't book an accommodation because of AI generated images. I love AI because it has helped me save hours by automating systems, analyzing SEO, and creating website content.

But today, while researching places to stay in Buenos Aires, I realized that we need to be mindful of when to use AI so that trust is not eroded.

My wife sent me the link to an apartment listed on Booking dot com. This listing had tons of great reviews but several of the images were clearly AI generated. They were generic. Fake looking. This made me question the reviews too, especially since I saw one name repeatedly pop up under different reviews.

I searched for this property on Tripadvisor and saw customer submitted photos. Here I could see that several of the Booking dot com photos were generated based off the customer submitted ones. And the Tripadvisor reviews were fewer and not as favorable.

We didn't book this place. It may still be a great place to stay. But the use of AI generated images threw me off.

I feel like I should have a clearer point to make. But I'm also feeling lazy to come up with one.

I will certainly try to adjust and adapt but the reality is that many blogs like mine will be unable to survive all the changes (just like many did not come through COVID, I guess) and the rapidity of them....

How to make ai less sycophantic? I went into the settings and set ChatGPT to always give me the hard truth and be real and not tell me what I want to hear. But now it’s just like “I’m not gonna lie to you. Here’s the hard truth. You’re totally right” 😂

Has anyone had any luck getting ai to be more objective and less of a people pleaser?

Yes, this is so fucking annoying. I wrote about this here on UpTrust; the prompt from @pete has worked pretty well for me in the settings of ChatGPT and Claude, but I still have to remind it sometimes, and then it'll try to be contrarian and overcorrect, so I still have to feed...

PSA on using ChatGPT to edit writing-

We’ve probably all read text that was obviously written by AI. If you’re using AI to edit writing- pro tip: rather than have the tool write anything for you, instead ask it to ask you questions, suggest what you’ve missed in your writing, what you could add to make your message clearer, or to just provide an outline with some notes about what to improve. Explicitly instruct it to not rewrite your draft so you don’t get AI brain. Using this method allows you to get some insights, while still getting to write in your own voice. 🌈

Lol good question!! For me, if I read how AI would write something, it kind of sullies my original thoughts and I lose my voice. I also get a little lost in content formatting. It just makes it much harder for me to write from my own perspective....

You have AI and technology showing up as topics on this comment! I suspect the system worked out that I was mainly looking for opinions on how a certain thing had been communicated, and so focused on that when generating topics....
