I want to add, I see why celebrations can feel like betrayal when people are dying from drugs and homelessness. That moral anguish is valid to me. Celebrations look like negligence when children in our cities are suffering from things we should be able to fix.... +1 to old school wholesomeness. Churches and old school religious institutions have their issues for sure but they're also amazing at community organizing, taking care of each other—especially around big human events like birth, death, sickness, marriage—and offer so much wisdom...
