I'm an avid student of humanity. I'm 56, passionately progressive: anti-racisist, (-classist, -ablist, all the -ists), harm reduction advocate, anti-prohobition, ally still unlearning and actively unpacking my own socialization. BA in American Social Critique....

creators I used to follow on Twitter often talked about taking sabbaticals. My next-door neighbor gets a month-long sabbatical every year. His company offers it. I've never thought much about the religious implications of the word, though....

What keeps me sane? The Serenity Prayer is a good starting point. I also try to get out of myself and help others. Performing acts of kindness is good too. I also mute President Trump whenever possible....

Yes. Beliefs are written into the law of the land: do not steal, do not kill, do not bear false witness... But, what has happened is there are many people who start a church that were never sent to start a church and they come up with their own interpretations of The Scriptures...

It's hard to take this comment too seriously. How do you "teach" what a "real" ANYTHING is that hasn't been proven to even exist in over 2000 years? Let alone claim to know what they definitely are not. This sounds more like brainwashing and a coherced belief system....

Hello,  Just a quick question. Should religion, science, and education be integrated? Folks grab their pearls over literature that fails to match their definitions of right and wrong. The church used to control science and education and burned thought-leaders at the stake....

thanks for this; I've never read Christie or Carr, but just watched the third Knives Out with my wife and also really enjoyed it. I like how the Catholic commentary is woven in, there's something real and stakesy and human about wrestling with guilt and transcendence and...

I get the sense when most people say they're not religious, it's the same way they say they're unaffiliated voters. Or how in the workplace, we've gone from working for one corporation for a lifetime to jumping employers every 1-3 years....

To fall in love with suffering? 🏚️ I’m still grateful—I’m grateful that I get to be woken up at 3:45am by my daughter’s fever. And for the “fuck, the milk is at the other house, next to the floorless kitchen cordoned off for mold-remediation.” But also, “fuck!...

I don't know if you're doing this but i want to make sure we don't conflate spiritual bypassing with a stage of development. I think we can spiritually bypass at any stage of development—for example you can imagine a fundamentalist Buddhist 'meditating away' anger rather than...
