Platform Update Highlights, Week of May 6
Major improvements shipped since the last update : Bridges marketplace Profiles got a lot better. Add posts to collections (like bookmarks or playlists), pin collections and posts to your Home tab, Easily see and message your most trusted people, lots of trust info, lots of... We could have multiple dating bots and use the trust network to work out which ones to suggest to users. The spicier version would be a bot that had access to your previous uses of the bot, so it could send summaries to both parties.... - Tobias Reber...
Relational Tech Project
Just found out about this initiative and (without having had more than a skim so far) was reminded of my recently created UpTrust account, so this will be my first post. Hi to all who may see this!... Platform update highlights, Week of March 25 2026
What Shipped This Week Events - Trust Gated! create, browse, RSVP, invite, co-host, capacity limits, reminders, clone, etc. You set a trust threshold for attendance, which solves the universal host problem (wrong people in the room) with a network as small as 15 people.... - onI could really use some guidance on exactly how Uptrust works. From what I can tell...........well, I'm clueless. At first I was thinking that uptrusting something made it more popular, and so it functions like a "like" works, while downtrusting something does the opposite, .....but that seems very one dimensional and doesn't really lend to the credibility of what was said, just its popular agreement.....which is more often than not, based on something other than the argument put forth. People go with prejudgments, biases and loyalties, whether it supports a group they already identify with, whether the language is aesthetically pleasing to them or shocking, whether they already had that opinion....and more. To create a platform that filters out attention in favor of legitimacy it'd seem like a deeper dive into the specifics of what is trusted and what isn't about each post is needed. And it seems to me that either Uptrust is either doomed to keep variance out of it, as the experience of their product is one where odd voices can't break in, leading eventually to a kind of stagnancy, or I'm missing something pivotal about how it works.by
This is so helpful Wayne, for understanding how to communicate this stuff. (thank you!) 1) Right now the way you create bridges is by putting forth a nuanced view on a topic that people disagree on. Other people's voting patterns determine who it's a bridge for.... This is the heart of the problem I'm looking to solve rn. We've got the incentives right here, now we need the "network effects" of a dense enough group of interconnected people that there's no business offer anymore for being on Meta. We'll get there but it's a crazy ride.... - on“Noospheric bioregioning” — roots down, branches and leaves up. Bioregionality is an important piece of the puzzle, but I have also heard leaders like Joe Brewer argue that culture is only a subset of biology. It isn’t. How else to account for the “networked” aspect which is so clearly happening? How else would I be able to listen to a Joe Brewer podcast when I don’t live in the same bioregion? So better to think of networked bioregioning or “noospheric bioregionality”, imo. Socio-cultural systems are more like “intra-biological” items than mere subsets of, or reducible to, biology.by
I agree. I think noospheric bioregioning is a part of the step towards the concept of network states. what do you notice changes in what you notice, see, think, or act when you use this concept?... I hope you're not alone in that desire, that's what we're here for! And hoping to be a schelling point for others like you/us to find each other. you mention on your profile being an expert the arctic; i read tim marshall's opinion of that area in his book The Power of... I’m thinking about communities that might vibe with UpTrust — groups of people who feel like existing platforms don’t quite work for them, or who are actively looking for something better.... - nat...
