Our Experience of Gender is Caught in a Drama Triangle
My contribution to the #DeepTakes event is an experience I find really alienating and lonely on a personal level and I see it playing out culturally in a way that seems to impact everyone I know (and obviously huge swaths of people I don't).To express what I am seeing in this... We need new gender categories, while preserving the distinctness of "man" and "woman"
I don’t mind using different pronouns—I’m happy to love someone with whatever language they prefer. But I’d like to propose that deconstructing traditional genders is not only unnecessary, it’s harmful.... - annabeth...
It's too intimidating for men to be men
Alright, here’s one of my most controversial opinions, and I’m gonna try to take the filter off as much as possible: Feminism has played out as retribution instead of solution. The Barbie movie is an entirely thorough example of what I’m talking about.... - Thea...
We need to stop shaming small dicks
OK this was meant to be anonymous cos I don't want to be slut shamed ... But I can't create a second anon account right now, looks like that anon account is just going to the wait list.... - annabeth...
I get your point but i still disagree. This is obviously muddy territory and i’m hoping to lean in with a lot of love and admission of uncertainty in how it plays out, and probably if I’m talking with a trans person I’m doing it much more gently and honoring their experience… One... But I’ve had a hell of a time finding grounded healthy masculine men. Many of them can do it for a time, but then flee to an extreme, like angry resentment at one end and non-binary softness at the other end.... I could NOT love this more! Such a real and present phenomenon. I say disempowerment is "life is happening to me" and empowerment is "life is happening for me/with me." It is a very popular sport to act as though gender is something life is doing to me, rather than something life... - josefine...
Everyone should be entranced by a beautiful woman (and it's definitely not a sin)
I'm sitting here about to finalize my draft for "what are holding environments and why they are important" as a deep take. I'm on my second day of bleeding and my brain doesn't work very well. So I'm rather going to share my deep take on my experience.... Reverent Men
The men I relate with are deeply reverent toward women and the feminine. They do not say this in words, but they show it via all the words they speak and the actions they take.... - Fooljeff...
Arun says I give myself bad report cards. What does this mean? I'm afraid of being seen as stupid. I often say I'm retarded, and people will respond, "I think you're hiding in your humor." I didn't know what they meant until I realized I'm afraid of being seen as stupid.... The systemic lens is very important here. As well as how the IQ test was created. Not like "ohh there are many forms of intelligence and this just captures one", but like the IQ test captures a specific way of interpretting that flavor of intelligence and doesn’t honor how it... I’m on the fence. My dad got circumcised when he was 30 because his foreskin was tearing when he had sex. He got me circumcised to spare me the adult experience. I’m kinda glad. My cock gets raw when I have a lot of sex and the thought of extra skin on there doesn’t sound great.... Yeah, I’m with you. Although… I think the man and woman genders will always have the specialness of being the OG genders, with a giant history and biological impact, and we shouldn’t ignore or deconstruct this away, while still honoring and including all the genders as equal... - josefine...
I hear and enjoy the first part here: recreating the same imbalance in its opposite. I’m surprised to hear you have a difficulty finding grounded healthy masculine men. In my own personal experience the world is abundant of men that are solid in their masculinity.... Haha that's funny. For me: as a kid, it was a day where we exchanged valentines cards and candy. I looked forward to seeing who would write me a special message, and I liked expressing myself via the kind of valentine card I chose (mostly ninja turtles for me) in middle and high... - Sara Schultz...
Haha the victim role is sneaky!!!!!! If I am a bit victimy about victimhood I’ll let that at least support my point that the triangle is pervasive and unconscious - but I hope I’m mostly in a creative space around it and I love your suggestion about hosting a gendered space of my... - Shera JoyCry...
Yes and Here are some long time thoughts, written quickly and pondered for years and years, never felt comfortable sharing anywhere with hardly anyone ever. This is a risk. THIS FEELS DANGEROUS....
