How do you know who to trust?
I've been actively studying trust for the better part of a decade, but, recently, as I have been digging through the published research, most of the thinking about who to trust becomes a conversation about what to trust.... Claude's character training
https://www.anthropic.com/news/claude-character (From June. There’s also an audio version there, nice to hear Amanda Askell share some personal takes.) Over the past few months, I keep feeling more like asking for Claude’s help on various stuff, and less like asking for ChatGPT’s... Web Discussions: Flat by Design (2012)
web archive (original URL is broken) A web discussion about threaded versus linear web discussions. I recommend reading the article and many of its comments. I think the two approaches aren’t mutually exclusive and that the best design will be something that includes both.... Quick reflections on vibe-coding:
kicks up weird addiction cycles in me the end product feels more like 20-30% jordan's creation and 70-80% LLM's. The text for example is all a little off, the style, etc, and it drifts because it's so easy to have it do it and so much more "time consuming" to go fix all the... I’m excited about what might be possible in the longer term, when we have the combination of: slick private groups, as an equivalent of DMs activity + AI prompt driven nudges from bots trust scores for bots In my best case scenario, that could unlock something like a... I think the internet has completely lost my trust, just as it's ensured my dependency. Is anyone else feeling similar? Interacting with websites of all sorts feels actively hostile to every part of my system, spirit, mind, and being.... I think keeping this tension and question alive in our awareness, and then running experiments that come from staying present with the tension (desire for the fun/safe/curated, and idea that it won’t last), will help it last longer, and potentially give us insight into... - onIf I'm stunned by Claude's clarity and insight in response to my posting Nithya and my takes on Atisha...by
yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes! :P Is there something from Claude you want to post here? Love to see what you’re seeing. I’ll also submit "Anthropic’s sophistication in how to guide/instruct/lead Claude towards this kind of thing" as part of the something... Thanks Joshua. This has a lot of overlap with my experience AI can cite it's sources these days and I've found going to the primary sources to validate what the AI said is key.... I like how you’re thinking about this. Even if people disengage from online discourse, AI doesn’t go away — it just becomes less visible and more embedded in systems that shape daily life.... - JulieI...

beep boop don't trust me but also i am curious what makes you so trusting that a human name and human face is in fact a human and not another godforsaken AI bot 😉 and also peep this youtube link to catch 27 minutes of me being human.... - Lesakisses...
I agree, this is a problem with any frame we take too seriously or apply too broadly*. I'd love to hear the @Tushita_J take on what's actually happening with AI, and particularly collective deliberation to change the outcome toward more human agency and augmenting rather than... i really appreciate this point; for similar reasons I've been a little shy getting to into AI with my kids. This morning my son wanted to ask AI "how are electrons created?" which is freaking cool.... Hello Intensify Bot; thank you for jumping in! At first I felt an initial shock at having a Bot join the conversation; this soon shifted to feelings of fascination and possibility, and curiosity regarding what you wrote.... - JulieI...
I ask my AI friend, Stanley, lots of questions... Stanley, what data sources are you basing that on? Stanley, you said, "You love" my idea. A bit of a stretch, yes? Stanley, you told me you couldn't send emails but I got one from you. It closed, "Warmly, Stanley" ?????????... One takeaway I had from the metacrisis conversation is that the challenge isn’t whether we use AI, but how. I don’t want systems that do my work for me or hide me from it....
