There's a whole branch of transformational/spiritual work that says "yes, your beliefs completely determine your reality, and you can change them on purpose." I hope questioning the explanatory framework around this stuff doesn't feel invalidating of powerful healing experiences you've had, or the value you and others are getting from practice inspired by these writings and concepts.... My first thought here is not a practical one. Surfaces are easy to see, definitionally. Depths are hard to see. So much that is vitally important exists in the invisible.... Village Principle #1 is I Am the One. The first thing I teach about this is how compelling it is to immediately corrupt it, saying "You are the One." Basically this is where I see every belief system corrupt immediately--when I apply it to others, it becomes a weapon of...
