Would you not set your own elderly mom up, if it was you? I don't think I would. If she didn't have the digital literacy and curiosity to set herself up and play around with this stuff on her own, then I wouldn't feel comfortable connecting her to an LLM.... - renee...
Helping my mom ease into AI
I'm thinking about helping my elderly mom get set up with Claude or ChatGPT. (Free ChatGPT allows more usage even after the limit has been reached. This could be a bonus for her.) She has suggested interest in it a couple months ago and has not mentioned it again since.... - oni Just spent a good deal of time and effort writing a carefully curated educated professional experience response balanced with facts and personal experience and balanced opinion, in response to a short write-up about highway drivers going far too slow in the left "passing" lane . I don't know if i was typing too quickly and tapped the wrong key or what happened but BLIP! BLANK SCREEN. All gone and so for now, that I've been foregoing peoperty maintenance responsibilities to write that and it's all gone and I've accomplisged nothing but wasting 90 min of a perfectly lovely chamber of commerce day. . Now its time to stand up and get busy hands on doing. some front yard cleanup, finish my gravity fed "shower tower" in the backyard, some fence repair and go from therereally dissapointed. I have avoided using the main AI chat services - it's getting harder to avoid though as it gets integrated everywhere. What do you recommend generally as an approach to engage with AI, where we have a choice?... Wow. I guess I've entered my full luddite phase. This is definitely a bad idea. I just think of the maxim: use it or lose it. Assisted walking / running will make you weaker.... a lot of the questions to me come to down to how fast we adopt the changes, and what incentivizes those. You're adopting to the changes by putting more of your personality in, and ideally you'll be able to adopt to what's next when your personality (or something similar) is... Thoughts on AI coding an effifciency?
