Can you post this in my group?

Post a message to a group channel (this posts under the user's name) (post_to_channel)

Your assistant posts a new message, with images if you like, to a channel in a group you belong to. It appears under your name exactly as if you had typed it and notifies people the same way, and @mentions work as in the app. Notifications cannot be recalled, though you can edit or delete the message afterwards. Your assistant should post only what you asked it to, once.

Ask it like this

  • “Post “running ten minutes late” in #general in the hiking group.”
  • “Share this photo in the garden group.”

When another tool fits better

Before you use it

  • It needs the Post for you permission, which UpTrust asks you to approve when you connect.
  • It writes to UpTrust, and part of what it does cannot be undone, such as notifications already sent or text it replaces. Its effects reach people or services beyond your own account.
  • In Claude, connect https://mcp.uptrusting.com/mcp. It is not on the ChatGPT address, https://mcp.uptrusting.com/chatgpt. How to connect.

What your assistant is told

Your assistant decides when to use this tool from the title and description UpTrust’s server gives it. Here they are exactly as the server sends them.

Tool name
post_to_channel
Title
Post a message to a group channel (this posts under the user's name)
Description
Use this when the user asks you to post or send a new message to a channel in one of their UpTrust groups. It posts the message, optionally with images, under the user's name. It appears exactly as if they had typed it in the app and notifies people the same way. To answer inside an existing thread, use reply_to_channel_message instead. Works for any group the user has joined (a crew only once they have read or posted a message there) and any channel in it they can post to. Pass `text`, `images` or both. To attach images, first call get_image_upload_signature, upload each file to Uploadcare yourself with the fields it returns, and pass the UUIDs Uploadcare answers with in `images` (up to 10, each a JPEG, PNG, GIF or WebP of at most 10 MB). Never pass image bytes, base64 or image URLs here. Name the group and channel the way the user does, or pass their ids: "post 'hi' to #general in UpTrust Slack" is group "UpTrust Slack", channel "general". Omit `channel` to post in the group's main channel. A group's @handle also names it. To mention someone in `text`, write @ and their username as the app shows it, in any case ("@jordan", "@Jordan Luke"): it is linked and notified exactly like a mention picked in the app when it names someone who can read the channel, and is otherwise posted as plain text, listed with the reason in `unlinkedMentions`. An @ in code, a link, a URL or an email address is never a mention. If the user allowed reading channels, list_channels lists their groups and channels by name and id. If the group or channel matches nothing, or a name matches or is nearly the name of more than one, nothing is posted and the error lists the valid names, or the handles or ids to choose between. On a tie, ask the user which one they mean rather than picking. THIS IS A LOUD WRITE: post only what the user asked you to post, once. The notifications it sends cannot be recalled; delete_channel_message removes the message itself, and edit_channel_message rewords it. To post the same message to several groups, call once per group. To read a channel or a thread, use read_channel or read_channel_thread. The response names the group and channel it posted to, links to the channel, gives the message's `messageId` (for reply_to_channel_message, edit_channel_message and delete_channel_message) and `messageUrl`, lists who was mentioned in `mentioned`, and carries a `speakable` line to relay.

A tool it uses along the way

Your assistant calls this one only on the way to the tool above. It only reads. It changes nothing on UpTrust.

Tool name
get_image_upload_signature
Title
Get permission to upload images for a channel post
Description
Use this when the user wants images attached to a post_to_channel message: it returns what you need to upload them yourself. Call it, then upload each file straight to Uploadcare with the returned fields: a multipart POST to `uploadUrl` with UPLOADCARE_PUB_KEY=`publicKey`, signature=`signature`, expire=`expire`, UPLOADCARE_STORE=`store` and file=<the image>, for example `curl -F UPLOADCARE_PUB_KEY=... -F signature=... -F expire=... -F UPLOADCARE_STORE=auto -F file=@photo.jpg https://upload.uploadcare.com/base/`. Each upload answers `{"file": "<uuid>"}`; pass those UUIDs to post_to_channel `images`. Never pass image bytes or base64 through any tool argument. One signature lasts about 30 minutes and covers any number of uploads. It posts nothing: an uploaded image appears only once post_to_channel attaches it. Upload only images the user asked you to post.
