Your assistant adds one of the reaction bar’s ten emoji to a message or thread reply, under your name, exactly as a tap in the app does, and the author is notified the same way. It can only add a reaction; you can take one back in the app. Reacting marks the message read for you, as in the app, and reacting again with an emoji you already left changes nothing.
Ask it like this
- “Heart Priya’s message about the picnic.”
- “React 💯 to Sam’s reply.”
When another tool fits better
- Can you reply to that message for me?
You want to answer in words. - How did people react to that?
You want to see who has already reacted.
Before you use it
- It needs the Post for you permission, which UpTrust asks you to approve when you connect.
- It writes to UpTrust, and part of what it does cannot be undone, such as notifications already sent or text it replaces. Its effects reach people or services beyond your own account.
- In Claude, connect

What your assistant is told
Your assistant decides when to use this tool from the title and description UpTrust’s server gives it. Here they are exactly as the server sends them.
- Tool name
react_to_channel_message- Title
- React to a channel message or reply with an emoji (this shows under the user's name)
- Description
Use this when the user asks you to react to, like or heart a message or thread reply in one of their UpTrust group channels: it adds the user's emoji reaction, exactly as a tap on the app's reaction bar does. Pass `messageId` for a message or `replyId` for a reply, never both, and `emoji`, one of the bar's ten: ❤️ 💯 😂 😲 🤔 🤷 😢 🤦 😒 😤. The reaction shows under the user's name to everyone in the channel, and the author is notified as for a reaction in the app. It only adds: this tool cannot take a reaction away (the user can, in the app). Reacting with an emoji the user already left changes nothing and notifies no one, so a retry is safe. The message must be in a channel the user can post to; otherwise, and for an id of nothing, the error says no such message. Reacting marks the message or reply read for the user, as in the app. React only when the user asks you to, once. The response says where the reaction went and whether the user had already left it (`alreadyReacted`), with a `speakable` line to relay; it does not list who else reacted, which read_reactions does.
